Open Access – Access to scientific publications in Swiss law
On the initiative of its Main Library, the University of Zurich commissioned Prof. Dr Reto M. Hilty and Dr Matthias Seemann to draw up an expert opinion on Open Access. The focus of interest is on legal issues relating to the operation of repositories, i.e. internet servers such as ZORA, which serve to make academic publications accessible. In particular, the question arises to what extent publications that have already been published by academic publishers may be deposited in repositories.
Prof. Dr Hilty is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law in Munich and Professor of Intellectural Property Law at the University of Zurich.
The questions and answers (FAQs) are an extraction of the legal opinion, based on daily practice.
